As A Beauty Therapist, Why Do We Encourage You To Do International Exams
Students come in and out of our doors, they complete their course hours, their theory exams and practical exams successfully. They are all done. But why end there? There is so much more for you to do! There is so much more for you to achieve! Why stop at the sky when the beauty therapy industry offers you the galaxy?
The Beauty Therapy Institute offers you the opportunity to achieve international qualifications over and above your national and college qualifications, enabling you to travel and work abroad.
You may be asking… ‘What are international qualifications? And why is it so important for me to do them?’
Well, let me explain. International qualifications meet global standards, benchmarking you with multiple countries around the world. Holding international qualifications, the opportunities are much wider for your working career. And not just when you are travelling or living overseas, but within our own country. International exams set you apart from other therapists. They also enable you to market yourself in a far more competitive and equal way to other graduates who have achieved these international examination Diplomas. International examinations are independently assessed and moderated, which ensures the examinations are fair, valid, reliable and consistent. You never know where you’ll be in 10 years’ time, nor what you want to be doing, so it’s best to ensure you’ve got the very best international qualifications possible to enable you to reach your highest dreams. Imagine having additional letters after your name, like “Jane Smith, ITEC Diploma, Beauty Technologist.”
One of our past graduates from the Beauty Therapy Institute in Cape Town said it best: “My ITEC diplomas have proven to be my best asset. Because of this, I was employed over English-speaking therapists because employers appreciate our (South African) training and the fact that I have an International qualification too. They say it is so much better.”
At BTI Cape Town, we predominantly offer ITEC – ITEC stands for ‘International Therapy Examination Council’, who have been in existence since 1947. ITEC is a British-based therapy examination body, registered with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in the United Kingdom, with their qualifications recognised internationally. They are part of VTCT. See the link: http://www.itecworld.co.uk/

One of the most prestigious examinations also to enter is CIDESCO. CIDESCO stands for Comite International D’Esthetique et de Cosmetologie. CIDESCO is proud to be offered by leading schools and colleges of the world in over 40 countries across 5 continents. CIDESCO have just introduced Certificate programs to add to their existing Diplomas. See the link: http://cidesco.com

CIDESCO offer the best possible start to a career in the Beauty & Spa Industry enabling you to have a long and meaningful future doing what you love. We at the Beauty Therapy Institute are proud to have our founder and CEO, Sandy Fuhr as part of their governing Board of Directors.
International examinations are usually held once a year at our college, in November. The college enables students who have met the requirements of their studies to sit these examinations upon successful application and payment of examinations fees. Exams that most of our students undertake at BTI are Beauty Specialist level 2 or 3, Nail technology, Holistic massage and Reflexology.
Beauty Therapy Institute stringently offer these international exams to our students in the quest to enable them to achieve the best ever outcomes. We have had many successful candidates entering these exams and continue to encourage all of our students to strive to complete them. We encourage all of our students to research the various examinations and speak to their educators, and industry professionals to plan your future. The world is your oyster.
