With COVID-19 Lockdown placing a major delay on our fabulosity…it gave us some time to think about how we can re-create some existing trends for the second half of 2020. Here is how…
French tips
The French manicure has always been the “go-to” look, but why not take it a step further with colour French tips? Experimenting with rainbow colours can be very exciting and trendy!
The Double French Tip is a more modern take on the classic French-manicure look. The addition of an extra line is a fun way to spice things up!
Nudes
If you are a minimalist and have a preference for neutral tones, try the cuticle dot. This is a delicate form of nail art, for those who do not want to attract too much attention. Neutral is understated but elegant!
Alternatively, give your classic nude look with an unexpected pop of neon! The contrasting trend is perfect for trying your hand at neon shades without feeling like your nails are screaming at everyone.
90’s
Because we find ourselves in the midst of a pandemic, it’s a good idea to reminisce on the good ol’ days, by revisiting 90’s. The time of retro styles, bright colours and unconventional trends. Embrace your inner child again and add a little playfulness to your life, with Leopard prints, geometric prints and funky colours!
Gradient Nails
An easy nail trend to adopt would be Gradient nails. This is where you can choose five shades of the same colour or monochromatic colours. Simple, but classic!
Nail Shapes
A new trend that has been fast emerging is experimenting with various nail shapes. I know what you’re thinking…how amazing right? Almond and coffin shapes have been very popular, however, we should bear in mind that experimenting with different shapes should always be practical to re-create and wear without breaking.
Marble
Marvelous marble… a very sophisticated look. If you’re still feeling your way around nail art, then start with a single marble feature nail, or if you are feeling more confident, go for the full set!
Accent Nail
Subtly explore creativity with a single nail feature. Paint all but one of your nails in a block color of your choice and make this nail pop! A popular choice is a single metallic or glitter nail, but you could go wild with various patterns or graphics. The possibilities are endless!
Pastel Nails
This is a nail trend that will never go out of style. Choose from popular pastel colors like lavender, mint, yellow, blue or pink for a cute-but-chic look. Another option is Pastel rainbow nails! They are so playful and fun and some celebrities are wearing them too. You can go as crazy or conservative as you like.
These are really fun and simple ideas that are worth experimenting with on clients, or even on yourself. It is always good to allow the creative juices to flow and explore the depth of your creativity to help bring about a very positive and cheerful “come-back” to our industry.
Please take care out there and always gear up with your full PPE when working on your clients, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for yourself and your clients, but most of all, have fun!
