We started off the month of MAY by commemorating and acknowledging all workers and their entitled rights. In history in South Africa, Worker’s Day was officiated in 1994 and has been observed as a public holiday since as a reminder of the fight for the country’s freedom. Many countries around the world also celebrate this day on 1 May. Worker’s Day is often observed as not only a public holiday, but also as an opportunity to celebrate all who partake in daily work. Many companies have embarked on giving a wellness day to their staff, either just before or after the public holiday, some extending into the month of May. This is where the staff get to enjoy a lovely meal, a treat of some sort or to feel generally spoilt and appreciated.
One of the services that has become very popular is experiencing corporate treatments in the office space, where staff can enjoy a head, neck and shoulder massage, a mini manicure, perhaps an eyebrow thread and even more.
The Beauty Therapy Institute group of colleges offer a service to Corporate companies where we send out our students to pamper staff during a wellness day, or even on any day which works best for the company.
Corporate treatments have become a big demand to maintain staff mental wellness. Not only do the corporate companies have the luxury of taking advantage of this service, but in this way, our students also get the opportunity to gain experience in the workplace. They bring all of the required products and tools along for the treatments, further teaching them stock and time management – a crucial need to add to their experience. We also encourage them to engage with clients in a caring and professional manner, which has been proven to sharpen their people’s skills
The Beauty industry is predominantly practical based, therefore experiential training/work is one of our utmost important implementations. It becomes a symbiotic relationship between Beauty Therapy Institute and corporate companies when this relationship is established. We believe that this service creates a happy, much appreciated and well-maintained culture environment within the workplace.
When a positive culture is established, staff retention is measurably improved. Happy employees create a great working dynamic making the team sustainable. Employees feel appreciated for the work that they produce with wellness days enhancing this feeling. The power of touch goes a long way to assist in re-balancing mental and emotional health, which is beneficial for everyone, especially when faced with challenges and stress in the workplace.
